It is a total Brand New kind of day. I have been listening to them all day.

Anyways, I hardly ever post on here anymore thanks to work taking over my life and my computer being dead. So here is a list of shows I will be going to within the next few months!!

July 31^st- mewithoutYou with Kevin Devine and Buried Beds

August 1^st- Murder by Death with Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons and Ha Ha Tonka

August 14^th- Aesop Rock with Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz

September 3^rd- Yeasayer with Daedelus

October 5^th- Circa Survive with Touche Amore and O’Brother

Nobember 8^th- Minus the Bear with Cursive and Girl In A Coma

SUPER pumped for all of these shows!! I was in charge of helping my friends in The Memorials book some shows and booked them on August 1^st here in Arizona, and I am kinda glad they can’t make it because I would much rather go to Murder by Death. I think I am most excited for the show on October 5^th. I’ve never seen O’Brother live and they weren’t able to play their last show here in Arizona L And Circa and Touche Amore are just amazing live.

So yeah, there are my musical thoughts of the day.

Music of the Day 4/10 Edition!!

Started my day off with Brother, Sister by mewithoutYou. This CD has always been a favorite of mine! :) This band is just great, amazing live, tons of great songs, however I kinda disliked It’s All Crazy blahblahblah; buuuut I am beyond excited to buy their new cd once it’s on iTunes!!

Next was Good News for People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse. I actually use to hate this band, literally couldn’t stand listening to them. Then I had a friend about 6 or 7 years ago tell me to listen to all of their cds just once and to give them a shot. I am so thankful that he made me do this, because after that I absolutely fell in love with them. I think this might be my favorite CD of theirs, but then again, I believe that they haven’t put anything bad out ever.

That was followed by No Kill No Beep Beep by Q and not U. Another CD that I just love and don’t think I can ever get sick of. Solid CD from start to finish. I wish these guys would get back together :(

Finished with Saul Williams S/T. This was my best friend/carpools choice but is never a bad listen. Except for Seaweed- that song creeps me out. I told him this elaborate story of what I picture in my mind whenever I listen to it and I am pretty sure I ruined that song for him. Oh well!

SO after finding out that Tom Gabel of Against Me! is turning into a woman (more power to him, by the way!) I listened to New Wave. I hadn’t listened to that CD in years and I still absolutely love it.

After that, I turned on Paulson and listened to All At Once, which is another CD I haven’t listened to in years!! AAAAND I still absolutely love it.

Then I listened to O’Brother- Garden Window. I have been listening to them a lot lately and was super bummed they missed the show they were supposed to play here on Sunday. I am seriously starting to love this band!

and I finished with Jeff Buckley- Grace just because I am obsessed with it.

3 weeks ago is the day I saw Manchester Orchestra, met them, drank with them and fell even further in love with them. then the next day I drove to California to go to Coachella. my best friend challenged me to drink a whole handle of whiskey for that weekend so I got right to it and drank 1/3 of it the first night. woke up at 6am to start drinking again on Friday and seriously sweat my ass off. Friday flew by. I got to see Refused!! which was amazing. fast forward to me day drinking on Saturday… passing out in the direct sunlight during Childish Gambino… then walking over to the stage Manchester Orchestra was going to play on about 3 hours early. Passed out for a few hours, woke up and saw a friend. then was riiiight up front for Manchester and it was amazing. then I had to go back to my tent because I was a bit too drunk/dehydrated to take the heat any longer. Thennnnnn on Sunday I SAW AT THE DRIVE-IN!!!!!!!! not gonna lie- I cried a little bit. didn’t even bother to watch Snoop… all in all, I saw a shit ton of amazing bands, got a bit too drunk, smoked a bit too much, and didn’t even finish the handle! bummer. anyways that is my post Coachella post in a very short form. yeahhhhhhh I love Manchester Orchestra. A LOT.

OK so I am going. First weekend. This is my post about Bands I am all OMFG CANT WAIT TO SEE (denoted by a OMFG), bands I kinda want to see just because I will be spending shit loads of money and might as well since they are pretty good anyways(denoted by $$), and bands my indie model bff is going to make me see (denoted by :|).

Friday- OMFG- Refused, Explosions in the Sky. $$- Tim Armstrong, The Dear Hunter, Mazzy Star. :|- M. Ward (also somewhat $$), Arctic Monkeys, and The Black Keys

Saturday- OMFG- Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Manchester Orchestra, The Buzzcocks. $$- The Skins, Big Pink. :|- St. Vincent (also kinda $$) Kaiser Chiefs (somewhat $$), Andrew Bird

Sunday- OMFG- AT THE MOTHER FUCKING DRIVE-IN. OMG OMFG. YES. Main reason I am going to this show, not gonna lie. And also the only band listed as my OMFG for Sunday (sorry, not much of a Dre or Snoop listener to care much about them headlining…) $$- The Weeknd, The Hives. :|- Beirut, Girl Talk, Flux Pavilion.

Also. Every time I see this poster I think that it says Sunny Day Real Estate, but am teased because it only says Real Estate and it pisses me off beyond belief. I would like to steal them from the 2010 show please and replace Real Estate with Sunny Day Real Estate…

pretty decent lineup. MUCH better than last years… really with Yeasayer was playing though! I wish they could fuse this with 2007s lineup

CDs that I consider Perfect

There aren’t many CDs that I will never get sick of, that I will listen to from start to finish without even wanting to skip to the next song, so here is my list of perfection!

Jeff Buckley- Grace: I’ve watched many interviews and videos where he said he wanted to make a perfect record and that he would do parts over and over until it met his standards and he succeeded at making what I consider the most perfect CD ever. My personal favorite CD. I love this man.

Thursday- Full Collapse: Everyone reading this knows how much I LOVE Thursday. I regularly listen to this CD and fall in love with it more and more. I am going to go on before I write another epic paragraph about how this band changed my life…

Butch Walker- Letters: My guilty pleasure! This CD is simply beautiful. Has its moments of craziness (Lights Out) and raw emotion (Joan) I make sure that this CD is on whenever I drive to California and I blast So At Last and instantly get in a good mood :) Check this guy out, hes wonderful.

Finch- What it is to Burn: Their first CD and the only one I can even listen to. Beyond amazing. I remember going out and buying this the day it came out all those years ago and listening to it with my dad. I absolutely love this CD (and yes I did listen to it yesterday after my last post)

The Mars Volta- De-Loused in the Comatorium: Perfection in every sense of the word. So amazing and complex. Whenever I listen to this CD, I get the same feeling I had the first time I ever heard it because I hear something I had never noticed before or the lyrics meaning becomes clearer to me. I love it :)

The Mars Volta- Frances the Mute: Yes, they are on here twice. I have crazy sleeping problems and whenever I can’t sleep I turn this CD on because it is so beautiful and calms me. Its funny how much I hated this CD when it first came out because it wasn’t the same as De-Loused was, I found the ambiance unnecessary and the chirping birds annoying as hell. Then when I revisited it a year later I wanted to go back a year and slap myself silly. Simply beautiful.

Saul Williams- Saul Williams: Listening to this CD as I type this because I realized how long it has been since I last listened to it when I started making this list. Similar to what I wrote about the Butch Walker CD, this CD also has the perfect mix of fun “dance your ass off” songs like List of Demands and Grippo, and the more spoken word poetry based music that Saul is so great at making.

He is Legend- I am Hollywood: I fell in love with this band randomly years ago. I had a Myspace (lol) friend that had a picture with the lead singer of this band and I was thought “what an interesting looking man” and decided to listen to them and fell in love. My dad also loves them. My dad has amazing taste in music! 91025 is also perfect, but since it is an EP I decided to not give it it’s own shout out.

The Format- Interventions + Lullabies: Local boys to Arizona! THEY NEED TO GET BACK TOGETHER. Since they are from where I live, the radio stations here were all about them a few years ago, so naturally I loved them and bought this CD right when it came out. I remember on a road trip to the Grand Canyon I listened to this CD over and over so many times that by the end of the trip I had fell in love with every song and learned all the lyrics. I will never get sick of this CD. Their other CD is a different story though…

Q and not U- No Kill No Beep Beep: I just love this band and this CD and listen to it probably once a month. I will never get sick of them and wish they would get back together!

Glassjaw- Worship and Tribute: Now this CD I listen to probably once a week. I have loved them for probably 10 years now, and have their logo tattoed on me. Love them and every single song and CD they have ever released.

Well, that’s it! I might be missing some, but this is good for now. This is in no particular order.

No- I am not one of those people that says “I only listen to underground music” This is just a list of bands I use to like at one point but became disappointed with them and their progression after a while.

Green Day- I use to like them before American Idiot. Now I feel like all of their songs are geared towards 13-15 year old boys, and just make music that will get them money. I can’t even listen to their old stuff anymore which I use to love because of American Idiot and how the radio played it every 2 minutes. COMMON THEME = RADIO KILLS MUSIC. I fucking hate radio. I never ever everrrr listen to it, but when my ipod is dead or I can’t listen to my own music, I have to listen to radio and it makes me cringe.

Avenged Sevenfold- I USE to LOVE this band. Then City of Evil came out, and it was only decent, and they kept going downhill after that. Then their drummer died and he was my favorite part of this band. I can still listen to their old stuff because I still really like it, but anything post City of Evil doesn’t get played.

Incubus- They use to be one of my favorites back in the day, but their new stuff isn’t nearly as good as their old. Therefore I wish they hadn’t started sucking/being lame. I can still listen to their old stuff :)

Anti-Flag- Ok, I don’t give a fuck. I use to LOVE this band. Back when they made music that they really stood for. Now it seems like they are cramming their political opinion down your throat (in your ears) and their new stuff is lame. I can’t even listen to their old stuff anymore. Which is a shame, because I use to love them.

Finch- What it is to Burn will always be one of my favorite CDs. In my opinion it is perfect. But anything after that sucks, and I can’t even listen to it. They also are pretty lame live which is sad. To be fair, it is really hard to top an album like What it is to Burn when that is your first, so I can forgive them a little bit for that. I still listen to that CD all the time. Might even go turn it on right now.

Honorable Mention Bands that I fucking HATE

Cause 10 least favorite bands just wasn’t enough for me

3 Doors Down- I don’t know why but I use to KINDA like them SORTA a little bit. Then all of their songs started being only about military related stuff and they just got annoying. Yeah I hate them.

Daughtry- I hate anything that came from American Idol

Tain- Mostly because of that Hey, Soul Sister song. That shit was awful. They played it all the time on the radio, and when I was working retail the store I worked at literally played it like twice an hour. I wanted to cry.

Creed- No explanation needed.

The White Stripes- Jack White is lame. I could drum better than Meg White. Just kinda hate them in general. Whatever, I get a TON of shit for this

Cage the Elephant- 3 reasons. 1- Whenever I wear my Cage shirts people come up to me “OMG CAGE THE ELEPHANT IS SO GOOD!” and I am like “no this is not a Cage the Elephant shirt. It is for the rapper Cage. Much better. Fuck off” 2- Their music just sounds so generic to me. And 3- they fucking SUCK live. When I saw the Foo Fighters last, they opened for them and I was just not impressed whatsoever. Dislike them very much.

Muse- Their skills are amazing and they are very talented musicians. However, they are over hyped, and the radio has officially murdered this band for me. They don’t suck at all, but fuck, the 1 and only decent station here in Arizona plays them all the time and I am just sick of them

The Killers- Mostly because they tried to cover a Joy Division song and failed. And Mr. Brightside is lame. And their 2^nd CD is gross.

Bob Marley- I get shit for this too. I appreciate him, but again, radio killed this guy for me. At 4:20 everyday they play “Mandatory Marley” and I swear it is the same 5 songs they play. I am sick of this dude

Sublime- Ugh. Over hyped stoner music. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy smoking, but would never listen to them when high. I was seeing this dude for a minute and the only thing he ever did every time that I saw him was get high and listen to this band. It was awful and boring. I like a few of their songs, but meh.

311- Also use to like this band a bit when I was younger. Then they started getting lame with Amber and Sunset in July and Beautiful Disaster and jesus all of their songs sound the same!

Pearl Jam- meh. Meh meh meh. That is all. Meh.

So happy that I was able to see this. One of my favorite Thursday songs at one of their last shows. I am still so happy and amazed that I was able to be a part of one of their last shows. I love this band more than words can describe! just wish that I had gone to more shows, and that they weren’t breaking up.
